Carlos Lee wants to stay in Milwaukee

Big time slugger Carlos Lee's contract is up at the end of the season and speculation has been that he won't be here after that. The most likely story thus far is that for such a big-time player he's never been courted and wined and dined and that he was going to take advantage of that this free agent period. It's likely, if that happens, that Milwaukee just won't be able to compete. Plus, Carlos had said recently that he wouldn't mind returning to Chicago, this time likely to the Cubbies. He considers Chicago home.

Plus, we can't afford him

But this article, from today's paper, says different about wanting to leave, but agrees we probably can't afford him.

"We've got a great team," said Lee, one of three Brewers on the National League all-star team. "If I have to choose where I'm going, I'll stay with the Brewers."
