I feel like this is probably less major than it seems, as we're only talking the roster for a friendly with Greece, but it still seems like a slap in the face to go from Captain of the World Cup team to not even on the roster in less than a month.

Have you picked a team yet? Everton just spoke to me so Everton it is. Whoever you pick my team will kick your teams ass.
BTW how was the Art Museum? As much as I am an ignorant Redneck drunk, I actually enjoy viewing fine art myself. Have a good weekend!
There is precedents here.
After taking over the England job after the 1982 World Cup, Sir Bobby Robson immediately dropped Captain Kevin Keegan from his squad. This is even more shocking because Kevin Keegan hadn't even given up his captaincy yet. There is some parallel here. Keegan was 31 and had just spent 2 years overseas at HSV. Beckham is 31 and had just spent, well, 3 years overseas at Real Madrid.
Keegan never played for England again. We'll see if Beckham does.
MANU all the way!!!!
John Terry is Captain. Awesome! Glad 2 c mclaren getting that one right.
Pippa
Moin, thanks for the background. Makes the whole thing all the more interesting.
MC, I have not yet picked a team. Thats on the agenda for next week. If I go with one of the biggies, it's Liverpool or Chelsea, and I'll post on why. I received an impassioned email in favor of Newcastle. Final considerations to happen shortly and decisions by mid-week, I should say.
Oh, and the art museum was great. They have a lot of good, big name pieces, which is always nice. There's something to be said for standing inches from "American Gothic" or Hopper's "Nighthawks". They also have quite a big impressionism selection as well as the giant "Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grand Jatte" and quite a few Picasso's. I took a Spanish art class once, so I am partial to all the examples they have.
Plus, the boyfriend wanted to things totally different then me, so I saw lots of stuff that I don't normally see, like all the really cool armor and the Greek, Roman and Egyptian art.
