Brandon Phillips broke his finger attempting to bunt in the 11th last night. Of course, he finished the at-bat, hit a single and drove in the game-winning run. Because that's how the Brewers season seems to be going.
From Red Reporter:
Minutes after Brandon Phillips delivered a game-winning single in a 5-4, 11-inning victory over Milwaukee, Phillips learned that he broke his right index finger earlier in the at-bat.
On the first pitch of the at-bat with runners on first and third and two outs, Phillips attempted to bunt for a base hit. He injured the finger on the bunt attempt.
Phillips will fly home to Cincinnati today to be examined by the Reds' medical staff. While no official word has been given, Phillips' season appears to be over. An emotional Phillips sat in his locker, passing on a chance to speak to reporters after the game.
