I've been out of town all day, so sorry for the article dump. Considering he's having the season of his and (to some extent) our dreams, Ben Sheets must just be rubbing his hands together in glee imaging the money he'll make on the free agent market after this season. No one can blame the Brewers for being skittish about signing Ben to anything long term prior to this season, given his injury history, but boy has he made us look silly for not tying him up.
This is the first time Sheets has come out and said that he doesn't intend to sign back up without seeing what he's worth. Of course, the Brewers have been very vocal about the fact that they don't/didn't plan on offering anything during the course of this season.
We're not halfway yet, so anything can happen, but Ben has put up the kind of numbers to imply that Milwaukee's payroll will not be able to handle him next season.
